Post-Weld Heat Treatment for Stress Relief
MTI’s post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) is a critical thermal treatment used to reduce weld stress. MTI’s Manufacturing Services offers stress relief using ovens designed to control how heat is applied and how the part cools.
This controlled treatment helps reduce residual stress introduced during welding. It protects weld performance by managing temperature, holding time, and cooling rate.
Metallurgy Support for Weld Microstructure Evaluation
After a part is welded, MTI’s metallurgy support evaluates its microstructure and confirms if it meets project requirements. Our engineers use tensile-strength and other tests to verify weld integrity, performance, and consistency.
CNC Machining After the Welding Process
CNC machining after the welding process is critical. It ensures tight tolerances, proper alignment, and consistent fit for finished assemblies. MTI’s in-house Hurco and Okuma lathe post-welding machine treatment (including a 5-axis mill and a live-tooling lathe) ensures efficient post-processing while maintaining quality control under one roof.
Weld Flash Removal and Post-Welding Treatment
MTI’s weld flash removal process removes excess displaced material. It restores clean surfaces and accurate dimensions through mechanical trimming, machining, and finishing processes.
Turning Services for Welded Components
Turning services are a key finishing step for friction-welded components. It helps create final or near-net shapes ready for assembly or secondary operations by optimizing concentricity, surface finish, and dimensional consistency across production volumes.
Milling and Grinding for Post-Weld Surface Treatment
