Friction Stir Welder for Marine Decking & Paneling – Model LS-1

This video demonstrates the MTI Model LS-1 friction stir welding machine in action on marine decking and panel applications. Through the FSW process, it uses a rotating pin tool to generate frictional heat and mechanically “stir” materials along the bond line, creating a superior solid-state joint without melting the base metals. The result is a high-integrity weld well suited for the rigorous demands of marine environments, where strength, corrosion resistance, and performance are critical.

Whether joining aluminum panels or complex marine geometries, friction stir welding delivers repeatable, defect-reduced welds that support long-lasting structures. To learn more about the technology behind what you see in the video, visit our Friction Stir Welding Technology page.
