This video highlights the MTI Model LS-2 friction stir welding machine in a live demonstration, delivering up to 100 kN of welding force to create robust, solid-state welds between conduit conductor end plates. Friction stir welding uses a rotating pin tool to generate frictional heat and “stir” the materials along the bond line, forming a high-quality joint without melting the base metals.
In this video, we showcase the repeatability and force capacity of MTI’s FSW systems in demanding applications. Learn more about the science and advantages behind this process on our Friction Stir Welding Technology page.
