Friction Stir Welders

RM Series Friction Stir Welder

Description

The RM Series machines are MTI’s most popular machine for R&D facilities and universities. Rigid framework and high‑torque capabilities make them ideal for welding a wide variety of materials including aluminum, copper, steel, titanium alloys, and more. Their flexible configuration options allow researchers to easily adapt the machine to evolving project requirements, while the open platform design supports experimentation with new materials, weld parameters, and joint designs. With their exceptional stability and control, RM Series systems give teams the confidence to explore advanced process development and push the boundaries of FSW innovation.

All MTI FSW machines come standard with Stirtec’s STIRlytics® control platform, which combines closed loop force and position control with real-time process monitoring to ensure ISO 25239 compliant weld quality at high production speeds. Built on SIEMENS Sinumerik ONE CNC controller, STIRlytics® captures full weld traceability data, supports remote diagnostics and updates, and provides Industry 4.0 ready connectivity. This advanced digital control system minimizes downtime, strengthens process repeatability, and delivers the high level of consistency manufacturers expect from MTI’s FSW solutions. Together with Stirtec, MTI also provides customer-specific fixturing and pin tool design and manufacturing to drive superior process capability and weld quality for your application.
