MTI’s GG Series is the most versatile heavy‑section Friction Stir Welding system on the market, engineered to tackle the largest and most complex solid‑state welding challenges. Built around a rigid gantry architecture, the GG Series integrates a 5‑axis gimbaled weld head, a single solid table, or an optional extendable rail system machine base, and an optional high‑capacity rotary turntable, enabling true 3‑dimensional welding of oversized components with exceptional accuracy. Powered by the market‑leading Stirtec STIRlytics® control system, the GG Series delivers precise force and position control across long weld paths, varied joint geometries, and demanding material combinations. 

Designed for industries that rely on large, structural assemblies – such as railcars, aerospace, defense, marine, and energy – the GG Series provides unmatched capability for joining thick‑section aluminum, steel, and other materials that conventional FSW systems simply cannot accommodate. All MTI FSW machines come standard with Stirtec’s FSW control platform, built on the globally-supported SIEMENS Sinumerik ONE CNC controller. This highly responsive and precise control system utilizes G and M code programing and offers closed loop force and position control welding to maintain weld quality and repeatability. MTI equipment is also integrated with STIRlytics®, Stirtec’s inline process monitoring software. This tool measures, documents, and analyzes process data for each weld to offer full weld traceability. The software also enables set up of warning and switch off levels, supports remote diagnostics and updates, and provides Industry 4.0 ready connectivity.
